Terms and Conditions

Last updated: October 2026

1. Company Details

In these terms, "we", "us" and "the Company" mean Yorkshire Electrical and Renewables Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16427888. "You" and "the Customer" mean the person named in the "Invoice to" section of our quotation or invoice.

We are an electrical contractor carrying out domestic and commercial electrical work in York and the surrounding area. For enquiries, contact info@yorkshireelectricalandrenewables.co.uk or call 07495 813843.

2. Quotations and Pricing

  • All quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. After that, the price may change.
  • Quotations are based on the information available when we price the job. If we find something on site that could not reasonably have been seen beforehand, such as hidden faults or wiring that is unsafe, we will explain it and agree any change in price with you before carrying out extra work.
  • We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is added to our prices.
  • Any extra work you ask for during the job will be agreed with you in writing before it is carried out, and will be shown separately on your invoice.

3. Payment

Unless your quotation sets out a different arrangement:

  • Deposit: for larger jobs, a 10% deposit is due once you accept the quotation. This helps cover the parts and materials for your job. We will then give you an estimated start date as a guide to when work will begin.
  • Balance: the balance (or the full price, where no deposit was taken), plus any agreed extras, is invoiced when the job is complete.
  • Invoices are payable within 7 days of issue.
  • Many materials are non-returnable, so we are not obliged to order them until payment for them has cleared.
  • Materials brought to site or installed remain the property of the Company until they have been paid for in full.

4. Your Right to Cancel

  • If you are a consumer and you agree the contract with us away from our business premises (for example at your home) or at a distance (for example by phone, email or online), you have the right to cancel within 14 days of the day the contract is made, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
  • To cancel, tell us clearly in writing by email to info@yorkshireelectricalandrenewables.co.uk or by letter before the 14 days end. We will refund any payment you have made, within 14 days of receiving your cancellation.
  • If you would like work to start within the 14-day cancellation period, you must ask us to do so in writing. If you then cancel within the 14 days, you will need to pay for the work carried out up to the point you tell us you are cancelling. If the work has been fully completed at your request within the 14 days, you will no longer have the right to cancel.
  • The right to cancel may not apply to items made or ordered specifically to your requirements.

5. Cancelling After the 14-Day Period

  • Outside the 14-day period, or where that period does not apply, you can cancel the job before work starts by contacting us.
  • Once the job has started, any materials we have already ordered for your job cannot be refunded, and we may deduct the reasonable costs and losses we have incurred because of the cancellation from any money you have paid. This does not affect your statutory rights.

6. Carrying Out the Work

  • All work is carried out to a professional standard in line with the current Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and relevant industry guidance, and is tested and certified where required.
  • We will notify Building Control, our registration body (NAPIT) and your Distribution Network Operator where the work requires it.
  • Start dates are estimates. We will keep you informed of anything that affects the timing of your job, but we are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
  • Please give us safe and reasonable access to the property and the areas we need to work in, and do not prevent us from carrying out the work, so the job can be completed with as little disruption as possible.
  • If a supplier delivers materials late or incorrectly, we will do our best to put the problem right and bring the job back on schedule as quickly as possible.

7. Workmanship and Guarantees

  • If you think something we have installed is not right, tell us as soon as possible and we will come back and look at it.
  • Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from the date the work is completed. If a fault caused by our workmanship appears in that time, we will put it right free of charge.
  • Equipment we supply, such as EV chargers and consumer units, is covered by the manufacturer's own warranty for the period that manufacturer offers. Where a manufacturer requires the warranty to be registered, we can do this in your name.
  • Guarantees do not cover faults caused by misuse, accidental damage or any alteration or repair carried out by anyone else.

8. Your Statutory Rights

If you are a consumer, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 says our services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and any goods we supply must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. For more information, contact Citizens Advice.

9. Limitation of Liability

  • We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
  • We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, or for business losses where you are a consumer.
  • Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

10. Website Use

This website is provided for information purposes. We take reasonable care to keep it accurate and up to date, but cannot guarantee that all information is complete or current at all times. Prices shown on the website are a guide only, and your quotation sets out the price for your job.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
